Qatar Journalist Flees Country

SURFACES IN THAILAND, MARRIES THAI GIRL, SAYS 'NOT COMING BACK'
A Qatar Diary Exclusive!
An Indian journalist working for the local daily national, The Peninsula, last week fled from a Singapore hotel, where he was on an official visit, landed in Bangkok, got married to a Thai girl known to him, and expressed intentions that he never wished to return to Qatar again.
The "40-something" reporter, who had been working in this Gulf nation for almost 10 years was sent to Singapore by his newspaper, alongwith other journalists from different publications of Qatar, to cover the annual International World Bank meet.
He was due to return, as were the other journalists who did, last week. However, the Peninsula reporter fled the hotel "at approximately 2.30 in the morning" the night before he were to take the flight back to Qatar.
After a few days of searching for the reporter, his paper found out that he had landed in Bangkok and had, in fact, "already married a Thai chick known to him for a few years" and, had decided to never return to Qatar.
According to another source, who seems close to the runaway reporter (message in comments section), he is yet to marry, and the girl "isn't Thai."
It is however unconfirmed why he would 'escape' and not actually resign and leave. Sources say he "had a bank loan" (unconfirmed though), which he had now, possibly, succesfully escaped.
He leaves behind in Qatar, his "Filipina wife."

hi
i think this post was in a bad taste. Then, its ur personal space, its your thoughts. But you got a few facts wrong. The girl is not a Thai and he is yet to marry. And the bank loan thing - are you sure...
sorry to say such a good journo and a writer like you should post something amounting to slander...

Cool. Am glad you corrected the facts then. And of course it isn't in bad tatse. It's blog-news-worthy. Simple.
And no... I am not sure about the bank loan, that's why I attributed it to sources.
Think about it. He obviously has something he's running away from, right? Else why would he flee. He'd just resign and leave.
And one more thing man. My journlistic skills have nothing to do with my blog or blogging. It's just a small little space.
But am glad for your message, at least now I am certain the base of my post is accurate...
That he has in fact fled. I was worried I might totally be wrong.
And chill out dude. No bad taste. Just the usual journalistic itch for revealing stuff.
Thanks for the compliments though.

Hey there!

Read your post on the 'missing in action' reporter and the comment that followed... and i couldn't help but add to it... Yes conman, uve got ur fact right when u said the reporter 'fled'. But remember, we still don't know why he 'fled'. And this i know for sure, it wasn't pre-planned. And dont ask me how me how i know... Guess it was sheer 'pressure' of some kind he was forced to take this drastic step. Or probably he believes in living life on the edge? Any bells ringing?

That's good for him. I have nothing personal against him. I've just met the man once in my life. Whatever rocks his boat!
I just posted a blog.
*Shrugs*
