The bald wise man...

Once upon a time, not long ago, when I was restlessly craving to get somewhere, to be someone, I chanced upon a man, a bald, wise man.

He wasn't looking at me while he said what he did, he was talking to someone else. I could hear him crystal clear.

The bald man said: Give up four evils of life.

Anger

Greed

Envy...

and...

.....

.....

Ambition.

And your life will be peaceful.

Somehow everyone's ok with the first three, but they're shit scared to give up ambition. Shit scared of not knowing why they're living.

I believed the bald man. I thought he was wise. I gave up ambition. Greed and envy followed out the door on their own.

Anger... well, still trying. It's hard to give up something that you had ever since you can remember.

But give up ambition... close your eyes, and think for a minute - your life without ambition. Without wanting to be anyone, be anywhere... just here, where you are right now. There's no place you'd rather be.

Just live.
