So fast... yet so slow

It is a known fact here in Qatar. Days go by really fast.
It's quite a paradox actually. People here are so lonely, so alone, yet days just zoom past.
Theories, as to why, have been several. They float all over Qatar - in banks, in oil and gas companies, in advertising agencies, in newspaper offices - wherever there are expats working, which is basically everywhere... all over Qatar.
Some say it's because the routine is fixed - you wake up, drive to work, work, go back home, watch a little bit of Tv, or a few Video Tapes (yes, the concept of VHS Tapes is still alive and kicking here because DVDs are mind-blowingly expensive - QR40 per day), and go to sleep. So basically they say, days go by fast because you ain't doing much the whole day so the days seem short.
Their explanation is if you're doing too much, like a lot of different stuff through the day, it seems like more than a day.
Some say it's because they don't venture outdoors at all apart from being on the road while driving home to and from work. So being glued to the computer all day long doesn't really give them a chance to take a look at their watch. And before you know, another day's gone.
My theory, however, which could be a lot of other people's theory too but I don't know of them, is that it's because of the 'weird' weekend days here.
We all are used to Saturday/Sunday being the weekend. Whereas here, the weekend's Friday/Saturday (for most), except for the newspaper weirdos like us who are off on Thursdays, one of which is today.
But that's the point. Our first day of the week is Friday, which is extremely light (as compared to other days, which according to me are very light), because everything - all offices, all avenues for official quotes or news - is shut on Fridays. So it's almost a dead day.
Then comes Saturday and Sunday, which for us expats, is a weekend back home. That's how our mindset is. Even though we work equally hard(ly), we know at the back of our minds, Folks back home must be partying.
Monday comes and we know day after tomorrow is the weekend again.
So it's psychological (obviously. Not like time actually goes faster here), since we don't have an entire stretch of Monday, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, and then Friday to look at when we get into work the first day of the week.
Most people I have told my theory to, agree with me.
Well, another week's passed by. Just like that. It seems like just yesterday when I was writing Random Crap. That was last weekend.
And here I am again, blogging... on a weekend.
Guess what I'm trying to say is that it's lonely out here. It's nice, but it's lonely. I thought I was a loner. I am. But Qatar puts me to shame when it comes to loneliness.
I think I like being lonely... but in a place where everyone else isn't.
Bottomline: You can make friends here, lots of them, it isn't very tough if you really go around wanting to make some. But with or without them, you'll be lonely.
It's the air...
It's lonely.
Yet time flies... yet so slowly it flies.

TEL: Loneliness makes me.
It's my shadow.
Surround me with people, with friends, with family, my shadow will still emerge...
As for you, I don't know.
