Bang!

Ramadan's here. Sometime tomorrow morning, right before sunrise, Qatar shall begin to fast. No eating, or drinking, even water, till the time the Sun is shining... every single day till a month. Every evening, there will be a canon fired, a really loud one to declare that fasting time is over, the sun's gone down, you can begin eating.
All shops will open and Qatar shall come alive. restauarants will be open till 4 am... and close just before the sun is about to rise again.
I am a non-Muslim.
But...
All restaurants are closed during the day. ALL. You get food nowhere.
If I have to drink water, I have to hide and drink water.
If I am seen drinking water, smoking a cig, or even chewing gum in public, I will be jailed for three days.
I am a smoker. I can't smoke in the office smoking zone during Ramadan, and I can't smoke outside. Will do me good for a month probably.
I don't have a kitchen in my house to cook food to eat during the day, anything... eggs, bread, whatever... so will have to stock up my tiny little fridge every day when the eateries open in the evening.

It's just a thought. I ain't against anything. It's their country, they can do it any way they like. If you don't like it, you can get the hell out of here. But really, it's just a thought.
Isn't the idea of Ramadan, fasting for a month... the money saved... help the poor, supposed to be all about self control. The entire point is about Sacrificing.
What fasting is that which is forced? - Whether you like it or not, you fast.
Clearly shows their strength.
It's all about allowing the restaurants function as usual, and then not eating. At least the non-Muslims won't have to fast.
It's just a thought.

Totally agree. Faith is something that should come from within...
