I know I said I wasn't going to post for a while... but hell, I got somein to say.
First, I need to clarify that I ain't against any religion, any caste, any beliefs, any faiths, any Gods.
But there are some things which are funny... very funny.
For example, the story of the sail-shaped
Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, arguably the world's best Hotel, an architectural wonder, one of the world's tallest buildings... and its 'underground casino'.
Gambling is against Islam. The Quran condemns it.
However, Dubai, the futuristic city, wanting to be mini-America, and no casino? Ha! You wish.
Time to open the Quran. They interpreted, the Quran says not to gamble on Earth. So fine, we'll make the casino under the sea. And so they did.
Everyone happy. Smile :)
The PIA (Pakistan International Airline), after a few months of taking off and flying packed, decided... Hell, it's against our country and religion to serve booze man. STOP BOOZE on flight.
Liquor: Stopped.
What next? People stopped flying PIA. Business dropped drastically. Bosses got bothered... thought,
bummer, why the hell did we do that?

Time to open the Quran. Oh, you fools, it means not to drink on earth.
Start booze on flight. We're flying above the clouds man. This is allowed.
Everyone happy again. Smile :)
As for me, I am still wondering if I have an opinion on this. Wondering if I have already voiced it out, or if I should.
Na-aa, I'll let it be. I guess, whatever way it comes, it's serving my purpose. ;)

ha ha ha!
Keen observations. Funny these arabs I tell ya!
'As for as me, I am still wondering if I have an opinion on this. Wondering if I have already voiced it out, or if I should.'...smart ass u r...
I dont have a problem with them interpreting their religion any way, as long as they dont end up at Jihad for every reason they can find!
Islam has laid down its laws and prohibition, it is the followers who interprete them to suit their fancy, thus effectively mocking their own religion.
Since when does Burj Al Arab have an undergroung casino? As a journalist you should verify the facts before wirting anything stupid.
PIA isnt the only one serving alcohol. Pakistan (and most of the other Muslims countries) also serve alcohol on the GROUND. Get your facts right.
And if they didnt the likes of you would cry that they are backward and not in tune with modernism.
The ONLY airlines (and countries) in the world who dont serve alcohol are Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
And on double standards - you can easily get beef (and its derivatives) in India. Almost all the shoes available in the villages are of cow skin.
And like under the sea doesnt make it earth anymore! Kya hai man!
-Zira!
Don't know abt the facts re your post but the essence is what counts.Double standards exist thoughout, I also find it laughable how we find innovative ways to avoid, so therefore I accept I will always have and live with double stds. No way will I profess to be a non hypocrite but as with everything I draw my own interpretations, my own limits, and aim to live within those- its hard at times when the goalposts keep moving but hey that's life for you I guess and then there's always the laws which btw is also subject to interpretation and change..Good post.
Mortal Thoughts... my facts are verified...
And please... read the post again... and try and get the tone of it this time...
Please... I beg you...
And sure every airline serves alci on the ground... I was talking about somein that happened... how they stopped and then re-started again...
About Burj Al Arab --- i serahced on the net... coulnd't find anything about a casino in the hotel... no listing... nothing... obviously, I wasn't surprised.
Asked a friend in Dubai to go check it out... cost him 300 dirhams for a tour of the hotel... confirmed.. there was indeed a casino beside the underground restaurant.
Ciao.

And about India serving beef... so whats your point? Just coz there are a handful of rigid Hindus living in India who worship cows, we should stop eating beef? India's a very very big country... EVERY single thing is available there. From beef, to Cocaine, to Ecstacy, to LSD, to Shrooms, to Arms, to Contract killers to sex workers to saints...
I don't understand what you're trying to say...
Like I said... get the tone of the post... I meant being so rigid about the preachings in the Quran, yet doing whats forbidden thinking they're playing safe coz its written 'on earth' and we're doing it either underwater or 'above the clouds'
Get the point you freak?
Next time read my posts two times before commenting, else I'll plant a bomb in your office...
loser.
Well atleast we dont make an excuse to manufacture shoes from the same cow we worship... the point of the post was "Double Standards" wasnt it?
Never mind Con, some people just dont get it...
Your research didn't go waste, that was scathing and yet funny.
One thing the Arabs did right was the Burj. I mean look at it man, look at it! Gotta give it to them.
I didn't miss no point...
It might be their selling point. I was telling you WHY its underwater...
refer to last line of post: "I guess, whatever way it comes, it's serving my purpose. ;)"
I meant... I like alcohol while flying, and I get it. I like gambling, and I get it. Doesn't matter how it comes...
