Imagine the Scorpions coming to India. There would be no way in hell any journalist would get a chance to come a 100 meters close to them, leave aside a one-on-one interview with the 37-year-old legendary German rock band.
Ok, maybe NDTV, or Aaj Tak might get it. Maybe.
But chances are, no one would.
But here in Qatar, things are a little different. First of all, I'm coming across as a journalist, rather, probably the only one, who knows a little bit about the Scorpions.
In the first press conference to announce the band's concert in Doha, there was a question thrown in by a journalist asking, "What sort of music are they going to play?"
You get my point?
I owe a lot of my life in Qatar to the Scorpions. It was because of that press conference that a few people spread the word to a few cool ones around that "a funky cool dude from Gulf Times was asking some really cool questions."
And the cool ones got in touch with me. Hence began my life in Qatar. A life with some great friends, some great times... The winds of change had begun.
The Scorpions are performing in Doha on November 10 an acoustic version of 30 of their best tracks ever as part of the five-city Middle Eastern Peace For All Tour 2005.
The five-man band will be arriving in Qatar on the 9th, that's day after, and I will be meeting them for a one-on-one question answer session.
So, let me know if there are any questions that you might like to ask them (make sure they're a wee bit intelligent). If it isn't about how many times they still wanked off, I'll make sure I get you the answers.

But I thought you were going to Malaysia next week? Are you gonna miss the concert?
My questions: "Being on tours must be a very demanding and hectic life. What are the precious things for you that you have been deprived of, all these years?"
Q2: "33 years have passed since, Scorpions introduced to many the wonderful world of hard rock music and changed their lives. Do you realize when the word “entertaining” stops and the word “influential” begins?"
Casa... concert's on 10th... I'm leaving for Malaysia on 14th...
Alex: Great. Will surely ask them that... though I am not too clear about the 2nd question. What exactly do you mean. Can u explain more clearly...
damn! i'd do horribly in qatar..
Just wanted to know what do they think of the band and today when the band isnt just an "entertainment" per say, but has changed/affected lives of so many people around them!
Got it.
Not a fan at all...but you must be thrilled (if you like them, that is)
Maybe you can ask them what they feel about having a runaway hit from a very mediocre song like Winds of Change or You and I. (But then again, you probably won't)
